He really could have used just pulled inspiration from the Apple logo itself and saw a great opportunity to incorporate Mr. For something as simple as this design, I find it hard to say he copied Thronely's work because it would have been so easy to add more to it and really make it his "own" or at least to make it look more different. I believe it was very possible for Long to come up with the concept for his design without seeing Thronley's design first. Although Long claims to have done excessive research to make sure he was not copying another design, he obviously looked over Thronley's image and the experience has definitely taught him to be more cautious. The article mentions that Thronley created the design back in May of that year, which is about three months before Long posted his. Within three weeks, comments on his blog accused him of copying the conception from another graphic designer, named Chris Thronley, whose design was basically inverted with a different color and also sported a slightly different silhouette of Jobs. The design featured Job's silhouette in place of the bite mark and became widely popular after he passed away.
